So… if you haven’t guessed from the world’s strangest article title, our product today for No Bare Lips November is from the long-awaited company Rare Beauty- by the lovely Selena Gomez. (Specifically the Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick ) People have been waiting for this launch for a long ass time. It actually felt like it took forever. I remember receiving countless notifications from Sephora because they were trying to get everyone excited so when it launched we’d throw out money at them!
I’ll be honest I absolutely bought her products the minute that clock turned 12:00. I had to make sure it didn’t sell out as I was sure it would and I just HAD to have it- true story.
Selena launched Rare Beauty with such a beautiful message in mind. After openly speaking about her mental health and its deterioration from being so heavily scrutinized in the public eye for countless years, she decided to turn those inward struggles outwards. Rare Beauty, while a beauty line, has a heavy focus on mental health. A portion of the proceeds from each item sold go towards an initiative she started by the name of Rare Impact.
I really could go on and on because there are so many lovely facets to her company but that’s not what you came here for. Let’s talk beauty!
The product I want to specifically review is the Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream.
I purchased this product in 2 colours: Courage (a nude mauve) and Inspire (a bright red, and Selena’s go-to shade). The product itself has 12 different shades: 4 purple tones, 4 pink/red tones, and 4 neutrals.
This formula is amazing. I’ve worn the mauve several times and I genuinely forget I have it on every single time- this product is weightless. I have yet to try a product with this texture AND with this pigment power.
I dare you to find something similar.
This product, because it’s so whipped and fine, adheres to the lips beautifully, it’s almost like a lip stain but without all the liquid and runniness.
Literally, in my NBLN vlog, I attempted a silly opening shot similar to those of 2018, and it failed HARD. The blooper is now at the end of my review video, so go check that out if you need proof.
At first, when wearing this I didn’t think it had great staying power as I was wearing Courage and as it wore down the colour was too similar to the natural shade of my lips. However, when I wore Inspire, it would not leave without a fight. It stayed, it stained, and it persevered; it was everything I could ask for.
There’s nothing else to say about this product apart from: try it, go buy it. (Retails for $26.00CDN)
