Happy New Year!
As I get older the new year seems to mean less and less to me, it’s just another day. But for some, it’s a refresh button, instead of going around on the board game of life you get to rewind to the beginning.
Here’s my problem with the new year.
So many people have the intention of getting into better physical shape when the new year starts. Spirits are high, the gyms are busier and gym parking is non-existent. If you don’t go to the gym regularly the gym can be a pretty scary place. It’s populated by a majority of people who are in shape and confident as ever, as their flexed,semi-dressed Instagrams will prove. Do me a favour and be nice to those new gym people, be encouraging, smile, say please and thank you- everyone starts somewhere.
It doesn’t matter when you start as long as you do, and it doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you don’t stop
It’s a New Year and anything can happen, but you have to make it happen. If you know anyone with a big resolution be supportive and help them however you can because deciding to take those starting steps are the biggest.
It makes me sad when people go off stating that “you shouldn’t need a new year to make a change (… blah blah… insert negative rhetoric)”. You decide what you need and if a new year is what you needed to start this year off with a kick to the arse SO FREAKING BE IT.
You do you, and please please do it big.
Rooting for you like a varsity cheerleader,
