Monday Masking: A MAJOR Matcha Moment

Matcha, that magic green delight. Packed with antioxidants and benefits galore, should we go through some of the major matcha benefits? Lets.

  1. Matcha possesses high levels of antioxidants and polyphenols which help the skin in many ways. Polyphenols help the skin in working as a natural sunscreen which can reduce oxidative stress and in turn reduces inflammation. Antioxidants aid the skin in repairing itself and correcting any visible damage. And depending on the type of antioxidant that is being used there could be additional benefits, such as vitamin c’s power to stimulate collagen production.
  2. Matcha is shade-grown which naturally increases the levels of chlorophyll which is powerful at eliminating toxins and purging pores.
  3. Additionally, matcha has some astringent properties deriving from tannins which means it helps to “reduce pore size” and decreases the quantity of sebum (oil) that is produced.

These are the BIG topical matcha benefits, along with these benefits matcha has some great benefits when consumed orally but we’ll save those for another day.

This mask is quite thick so when applying I recommend using your fingers as you can really feel the consistency and thickness of the applied layer. Also, who says this has to be an all-over mask? nobody. You can always use this mask as a targetted treatment for areas that need some extra love.

matcha magic before and after

You can see the mask cracking slightly but it was more of a matter of the mask shrinking slightly and pulling away from itself. The formula didn’t tighten upon the skin. After being washed off my skin was slightly flushed but very little. I noticed an immediate difference with the overall tone of my face, colour irregularities had diminished immensely and my skin was very smooth.

I feel as though I’ve been through a bit of a rollercoaster with this mask simply because I began by LOVING IT and now my feelings aren’t as strong. I like this mask, it’s nice but I don’t feel like it’s something you just need to have. I’ve read some rave reviews about this product and think that it depends on your skin just because everyone is different, this might be THE ONE for you but it just didn’t WOW me.

Still in search of my mask soul mate,
