Lipstick, Self Doubt, Accomplishments & Adventures

Wow! November has flown past me, I hardly feel as though I’ve had any time to really think. I suppose that’s how you know you’re in the thick of it, life that is. No Bare Lips November came and went and it was a challenge I truly, honestly, didn’t think I’d be able to accomplish, the self doubt was high. I know people say self doubt isn’t always good etc etc etc… But I wasn’t really doubting myself. If I really think about it, I think I was just trying to be realistic; setting the bar high in theory but not being surprised if I failed. In the grande scheme of things it probably wasn’t…

No Bare WHAT ?!

Woah! Is November seriously around the corner?! Weren’t you going to get your life together like 8 months ago? Kidding, that’s mean… and I’m going through the same thing. So let’s talk about something, November… well Movember. I mean I personally love facial hair, I think it’s sexy. Some women obviously don’t like it but here’s the thing: I love the men of this world just as much as I love the women. So the question is why should men have all the fun for Movember? I mean Movember is an opportunity to raise funds for prostate cancer and realistically we need those boys just as much as they do. So to partake in the…

Screen Time !

I love writing; I love being able to read the words someone deliberately has chosen to express themselves. It feels like an open door into their thoughts. Their brain: an open office, filing through their opinions and desires. But here’s the thing… someone’s thoughts don’t always fully express their enthusiasm. You can paint a picture of what you experience and see but it’s always different when you see it with your own two eyes. Imagining is nice but seeing can be better. Everyone’s different and those who are visual learners and prefer to see rather than read would probably prefer some good old videos! Screen time baby, I have started a YouTube channel. It feels…

My Babas Treasure

Neither of my grandmothers were wealthy women. My one grandmother grew up in the USSR on the border of what we know today as Russia and Ukraine. She fought and struggled her way to Canada with a son born in Germany, and eventually 2 more sons who were born in Canada. She worked tirelessly so her children, my uncles and father, could have a life that didn’t cross into poverty. They asked for little, as they knew she could provide the bare minimum. Growing up, she always knew me as a child and we struggled to some extent to truly understand one another. I saw her as a disciplinarian who would encroach upon my fun,…

So, I’ve met someone…

I know, I know you’re thinking “What I thought you had a boyfriend… ?” yea we broke up. It was lovely but short lived. We are remaining friends, great friends; we’re lucky that it works for us. But that isn’t what this post is about. Recently I went to Dauphin Manitoba, I have some family there that we’ve never met, so we went to meet them. They’re amazing! They’re potato, chicken, pork and cow farmers. They’re hands on people with amazing dancing skills and hearts the size of the world. I keep telling them how much I love them considering I’ve just met them but this new part of me just feels whole, it’s a…

Brunching at Reyna

A couple of weekends ago, upon the suggestion of my best friend, her and I went to a lovely little nook named Reyna. Walking through Yorkville it was a beautiful day, the sun was out and I couldn’t find the restaurant. Reyna is such a little hole in the wall I didn’t even see it. My friend Michelle had to point it out over and over again until finally I said “Ohh, there it is! ” Once inside we sat in the back under the open air. Sitting at a too-small table of very chic design, we ordered drinks. Sangria for me and a caesar for Michelle. The drinks and food menus arrived promptly and the…

Under-Stimulated Bliss

Yes you were hoping this would be a sexy post and I guess that depends on your definition of sexy. If mature life realizations are your definition of sexy then this is it. So, my bf has a farm that has been in his family for quite some time, and I insist that he bring me every time I hear of it. I’m sure he rolls his eyes internally at my endless pleas to bring me, but he acts like it doesn’t bother him. So recently, when I mentioned that I had wanted to do something on the weekend and not just hang out, he came back with an invitation/surprise of bringing me up to the…

Doors Open Toronto: The Purification Palace

So recently my boyfriend and I went to the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant ( once dubbed the Purification Palace) for Doors Open Toronto. This was my first time at a Doors Open site/event. I LOVE learning about topics I don’t know much about, and water treatment is definitely one of them . I had suggested the idea of going to a Doors Open site and he already knew exactly which one he wanted to go to so it was a pretty easy decision wise. We drove down to The Beaches and boy was it busy , we could hardly find a parking spot. Upon walking to the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant I kept thinking…
