Yearly Empties Part 2: Makeup & Body

Body body body washhhh and makeup.

Please note I do wash and do apply makeup but I also have so many products in each of these categories that finishing something is nearly impossible. These are the most recent empties, and by most recent, I mean from November 2017 to November 2018.

1.Le Petit Marseillais White Peach & Nectarine $9 CDN
*This body wash was given to me as a freebie* I liked this body wash, it smelled amazing, peach is a favorite scent and flavour of mine so it was an easy product to love. It lathered a little bit, not overly so, and washed well. I did find that it didn’t provide my skin with any additional moisture, if anything, it was slightly stripping. I would use this again, but I wouldn’t pay for it. This was nice but it wouldn’t be a go-to item of mine. Mind you, it might make a nice light bubble bath.

2. The Honest Company Shampoo and Body Wash $13 CDN
*This product was given to me as a gift* It smelled interesting, the scent is apricot kiss and while it doesn’t smell bad it smelled a little soapier than I would have liked. it washed my body well and was very gentle, when it came to using this as a shampoo it left my hair so fuzzy; not riddled with static but so soft and clean my hair felt as soft as babies hair. After using this my hair lacked weight if that makes any sense? Not something I would repurchase.

3.Glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash $22 CDN
I purchased this product myself at the Glossier pop up shop in Toronto this past summer. The day was hot AF and I trekked all the way to the west end with my camera in tow, wanting to, of course, get some sweet pics. The day I went to the pop-up shop they released the Body Hero Duo,  a wash and matching body cream. This typically comes with a pump top, but one of my current body washes didn’t have one so I swapped the tops. I really like this wash. My skin wasn’t left dehydrated, it was left smooth and moisturized without that film-like coating. At first, when using this I wasn’t crazy about the smell, it smelled as though it was meant for an older woman; slowly the scent grew on me and before I knew it the stimulation of my according sense was welcomed.
Definitely a repurchase.

1.Kevyn Aucoin Beauty The Volume Mascara $ 34.25 CDN
I happened upon this mascara when Nordstrom had a semi-annual sale and they released an amazing Space.nk Apothecary kit. I had never used Kevyn Aucoin products and i wasn’t really sure how this would work, especially upon opening the tube as the bristles were so short. After using this mascara I was pleasantly surprised with the fullness I could achieve with a few thoughtful swipes. The mascara was extremely buildable and after a long day, it comes off in tubes. Which makes washing your face a little bit more pleasant. Potential repurchase.

2. Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter $ 23 CDN
I hate lip balm, it’s usually too waxy, feels too thick or it doesn’t feel thick enough and I’m left with a product I dislike. This balm is a dream. It tastes like a Werthers caramel candy and moisturizes so well. It stays on and the size of the tube ensures I don’t lose it like the majority of my balms. Already repurchased*

3. Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel $12 CDN
Ugh. Real techniques brushes are amazing but this darn cleanser was awful. I needed too much for each brush and I didn’t even feel as though it cleaned thoroughly. The core of the brush was still left with makeup residue. This cleanser lathered “a peine”, it was a struggle, I returned to my bleandercleanser immediately. I’m sure you can guess whether this will be making a reappearance in my bathroom.

4. Beauty Blender Blendercleanser® Solid $22 CDN
The previous item should have given you a hint as to how I feel about this cleanser. It is my holy grail cleanser. It cleans my brushes as they were meant to be cleaned. No residue, just clean brushes. H.o.l.y G.r.a.i.l.

5. Dior Addict Lipstick Not Shy $43 CDN
My mom loves this lipstick and so when I would forget my own lip colour I would snag this from her purse. It’s creamy and stays in place quite well. It acts as more of a balm than a full lipstick. I wouldn’t repurchase this as there are so many less expensive lip products out there that do the same thing.

6. Dior Show Mascara in Extreme Black $37 CDN
A simple mascara, it didn’t wow me, it was just nice. I would choose the Kevyn Aucoin mascara over this one any day. Sorry Dior.

7. Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel $29 CDN
Ahh, a favorite among the masses. This was the first brow gel I ever used and my love for it grew quick and strong. This is a nice stiff brow gel, it holds the hairs in place and even helps diffuse some of the colour if you allow it to. I’m currently rotating through a few different brow gels but this is definitely a contender for future repurchase. Eight Ball Says: All signs point to yes.

8. Peter Thomas Roth Lashes To Die For™ Turbo $110 CDN
No. I don’t know if anyone has seen any results with this but I did not. it was a waste of money. I won’t entertain saying much more, save your money.

I hope this helps you uncover or discover the truth about a certain product. If there’s anything you would recommend we’d love to hear from you!

xx
