Yes, I realize that the holidays were like 4 months ago but I hadn’t yet written an article about a swag bag I received at a holiday party so now seemed as good a time as any.
Over the holidays I went to several holiday parties; I had sort of forgotten how fun holiday parties are. Between my work, my boyfriend’s work and his familys’ companies there were a few. It’s so fun getting dressed up and going out and eating and chatting and seeing people in their everyday clothes instead of their work apparel, ya know?
Over the holidays my work was having a party and they always have some really great prizes. I won a big bag of beauty products, which telling by our site you can imagine is ideal for us. Anyways, I wanted to share with you what was in that bag!
1.URIAGE Eau Thermal
This is a product that’s great if you’re already using it, and if it already had a place in your routine. For the rest of us who don’t use this regularly, it makes a little less sense. It’s water in an aerosol. If you’re doing your makeup and you need to gently dampen something, whether it be a brush or your face (to help blend something in) this can be very useful. For the rest of us mere mortals, this isn’t as practical of a product. Save your money when it comes to this one.
Note: the mist is very fine and soft, when spraying it shouldn’t startle you at all.
2.Pixi Glow Cake in Pink Champagne Glow
I love these ombre palettes! How brilliant is it to pan colours this way. The customer gets an array of shades and because of the way it’s packaged it’s so easy to mix them! This product has become a staple in my daily routine simply because it’s relatively inexpensive (if and when I repurchase I won’t be breaking the bank) and I only need to reach for one product for colour and contour. Love Love Love
My boyfriend loves the smell of this lotion and so do I. Let me rephrase, I like the smell I don’t love it, in other words, I wouldn’t make it MY scent but when I feel like changing things up this is a great option. I’m terrible at applying lotion, I’m getting better, and this lotion makes that a little easier because it’s a 2 in 1. It’s super hydrating and the smell does last for a good 6 hours. It’s not necessarily a repurchase but it has made me double think whether or not I should just buy a really good smelling body lotion and forego the perfume every now and then.
4.Dermablend Makeup Dissolver
The name of this product sounds SO promising: Makeup DISSOLVER. Am I the only one who thinks that sounds intense? I wish this product was as powerful as the name. I found that this product required more elbow grease than it should. I was expecting a thicker oil that would emulsify but it felt like more of a cream that I just had to keep rubbing in order to remove my makeup. Not a repurchase.
5.Dermablend Foundation Brush
This brush is incredible, I don’t know why they don’t sell it on its own. This brush has this incredible ability to buff your makeup into your face- no sponge necessary. Sometimes brushes can leave those annoying streak marks but this brush gives you an airbrushed look in seconds. I highly recommend purchasing any of their products just to get this brush. If brushes could “run out” I’d definitely re-buy this product.

6.Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Rose
This lip balm is definitely hydrating and the colour is super cute, it’s also a safe bet for a gift bag when you’re unsure of who the recipient will be. It’s an easy colour to wear and it wears for a couple hours before you need to re-apply. I’ve not looked into the colour range for this balm but if there was a colour that I really loved I think I’d pick it up.
This Lip Glow is not something I EVER imagined I’d like, and at first I hated it… but then things changed. Applying this makes you feel like a tween who just got one of those big makeup trunks with cheap makeup, you’d play nonstop because you basically just got a ton of face paint.
My feelings on this progressed as such, 5 seconds: UGH. 10 seconds: Maybe this would be cute for a rave. 20 seconds: Why can’t every day be a rave. 45 seconds: I think I secretly love this. 60 seconds: Everybody should wear sparkles every day!
As you can see it was quite the roller coaster, but in the end, I realized that I really needed to be more open to trying something wildly different. I wouldn’t repurchase this because I’ll never use enough for it to run out, however, I’m now more open to the idea of glitter and sparkles.
I do not like this perfume. Perfume is such a personal decision, people have such a wide variety of tastes making it challenging to select for someone else. There’s someone I know who wears either this perfume or one painfully similar and they douse themselves in it. Obviously, the scent cloud that follows them is completely over-powering and so very unpleasant, and for that reason and that reason alone I dislike this perfume.
9.Rimmel Wonderfully Real Mascara
This mascara was quite challenging to apply. The brush had silicone bristles and it would’ve been amazing at separating lashes were it not for the wand. The shaft of the wand was slathered in product and when you removed the wand from the tube none was removed (some companies make the opening smaller to help removes excess product). When you tried to brush through your lashes they would rub against the shaft of the wand and gather a lot of product but the bristles were so far away from one another that they weren’t able to successfully come through/thin out any product on the lashes. I feel as though that’s a very justified and in-depth reason as to why I wouldn’t repurchase this mascara. Note: I used a lash separating brush after I applied this mascara otherwise it would’ve been bad.
I SUCK at putting any type of moisturizer on, it feels tedious and annoying. Also, you usually do it after a shower which makes the entire process way more slippery than it needs to be and I don’t want to wait to dry otherwise I get cold, see the dilemma? This balm was NOT what I was expecting, it’s thick like room temperature butter. You skim your fingers or spatula over the surface and remove a thin layer. It hydrates the skin like nothing else, yet it doesn’t feel heavy. The backs of my arms are always dry but this keeps them hydrated. The other thing I like is that it’s not runny, I apply it to my palms, warm it up and off to the races. This style of product is definitely a repurchase, whether it’s this exact one or another brand that has a similar balm- I like this method of delivery.
At last, we’ve gone through my holiday swag bag. I felt as though I had this hanging over me for so long. I wanted so badly to finally write this and now it’s here! I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
